Relationships are difficult! Communication, compromise, having needs met, intimacy, affection, feeling cared for, and showing love are the intricacies and complexities of relationships. Our own childhood creates relationship patterns which are strewn with feelings of guilt, embarrassment, anger, and shame and create behaviors that continue in our current relationships. Oftentimes resulting in arguing, creating distance, and shutting down communication.
Identifying the patterns and their roots is the goal of couple or marriage therapy. Through in-depth discussion of each person’s family patterns, a deeper understanding of the couple’s pattern is revealed. Then in collaboration, the couple creates new patterns that sustain love and respect in actionable behaviors that change communication, compromise, having needs met, intimacy, affection, feeling cared for, and showing love into healthy patterns that serve each individual and the couple well.
